Lower Back Pain Kidney

There are many reasons why people suffer from low back pain, many times it is from some sort of accident or stretching incorrectly. One way you can get or feel lower back pain is from a kidney infection. Pain from a kidney infection can be extreme, radiating into the low back area.

Signs and Symptoms

Many people suffer from back pain in the mid or low back area. If the pain has been persistent for a while, it is vital that you go see a doctor to find out the cause. You may be suffering from a kidney infection that needs immediate attention.

If your pain is happening with the following, you can be sure that you are suffering from a kidney infection:

Blood in urine (not always visible) - Burning during urination - Nausea - Fever

So where are your kidney's located? They are on both sides of your spine, just above your hips. What your doctor will do is press on these area's to check for tenderness and sensitivity. The pain is going to be localized to this area. It can move up to the waist area if you do have a kidney infection.

A check of the white blood cells in your body, doctors will ask for a urine sample. By testing the white blood cells in your body the doctor can tell if your body is fighting an infection.

Now if you are suffering from lower back pain after you pull a muscle, herniate a spinal disc, or straining your back then you have the answer for the pain. So it will not be from a kidney infection.

Treating a Kidney Infection

When bacteria enters into the bladder and travels to the kidneys will cause a kidney infection. You will suffer from a bunch of symptoms, one of which will be lower back pain. Two forms of kidney infections are:

Acute (strong but short -term) - Chronic (slow buildup but can be long in duration)

You need to make sure that you receive treatment immediately if you suspect that you are suffering from a kidney infection. If you wait for treatment you can damage your kidneys. Antibiotics are usually the main treatment.

To help relieve a severe case of kidney infection, most doctors will give you medication to help with nausea and pain. They may also decide to give you a shot of antibiotics. Your lower back pain, if caused by a kidney infection will go away once the kidney infection goes away.

Pain treatment for the lower back

Pain caused by trauma will not go away as quickly as pain caused by infection. You can treat pain that began due to some sort of trauma with the following:

Heating pads - Physical therapy - Topical - Oral pain medication

Rest and extensive treatment is used for pain brought on by:

Herniated discs - Strains -Overdoing exercise - Stretching - Bending improperly - Back spasms

As you can see there is a big difference between pain from trauma and lower back pain from a kidney infection.
